You think that I go home at night

Take off my clothes, turn out the lights

But I burn letters that I write

To you, to make you love me

Yeah, I drive naked through the park

And run the stop sign in the dark

Stand in the street, yell out my heart

To make, to make you love me

I am extraordinary, if you'd ever get to know me

I am extraordinary, I am just your ordinary

Average every day sane psycho

Supergoddess

Average every day sane psycho

You may not believe in me

But I believe in you

So I still take the trash out

Does that make me too normal for you?

So dig a little deeper, cause

You still don't get it yet

See me lickin' my lips, need a primitive fix

And I'll make, I'll make you love me

I am extraordinary, if you'd ever get to know me

I am extraordinary, I am just your ordinary

Average every day sane psycho

Supergoddess

Average every day sane psycho

Supergoddess

See me jump through hoops for you

You stand there watching me performing

What exactly do you do?

Have you ever thought it's you that's boring?

Who the hell are you?

I am extraordinary, if you'd ever get to know me

I am extraordinary, I am just your ordinary

Average every day sane psycho

Supergoddess

Average every day sane psycho

No matter what.

There's been something on my mind ever since I first heard that Def Leppard were going to release a cover of "No matter what." Not just because of that. but that helps it to weigh on my mind.
I have a good friend who used to admire Def Leppard on a lot of levels, and who looked forward to meeting them one day. And most definitely would have. But because of particularly nasty fan politics on the part of cruel people, my friend walked away from Def Leppard and Def Leppard fans for good. Quite a few fans have over recent years because of it. I'll admit that I've been tempted to walk away from the whole scene myself. I would certainly have enough reason. If I hadn't met the band for myself and gained some insight into they feel about all of it, and the people involved, I probably would have walked away and never looked back. But I have met them, and I've been able to put it all in perspective. And I'm glad to have the friends I enjoy knowing now. I look forward to seeing all those people during this summer's tour. Old friends and new. After all, the people we care about are what life's all about. Isn't it?
That one friend will not be among the people I see during a Def Leppard tour, though. I'm sorry to say that my friend will not go anywhere near them or the people around them who behave so badly. With good reason, it's true, but I wish it could have all worked out differently.
My friend's motto in life is "no matter what" because it means that loyalty, friendship and love last forever, "No matter what." And I agree. When you find friendship or love, it should be forever, no matter what. If only more people believed that, the world would be such a better place.
Lately, my friend has been on my mind quite a bit. Partly because it's been a long time since we've seen each other, and partly because Def Leppard released a cover of a song with the same title as that motto. I wish a lot o things could be different. I wish I could take my friend on tour, and to meet the band, but I know that will never happen. Some wrongs just can't be undone, especially when those wrongs are allowed to continue to happen.
I'm sorry to see that when it comes to Def Leppard and their fans, some things will never change. Whether it's a due to a lack of interest, lack of guts, or plain old laziness, some things will just never be dealt with the way they should be. That's a shame, too. A lot of things that should be said and done never will be. I can deal with that just fine for my own part, but it makes me sad for those who will never know what it's cost them.
I'm going to get in touch with my friend. I'm going to ask if we can meet again soon, and maybe if we can meet together while the band's on the tour. I don't know what will happen, but I know that I'll try, and keep trying.
If you've got a friend or family member that you haven't talked to in a long time, don't wait. Get in touch with them. Life is far too short to let even a moment go by neglected. And if there's anybody out there that kicks up a fuss about it, tell them at the top of your lungs to get stuffed. Say it on a weblog, say it on a forum. Take out billboard space if that's what it takes to make the message clear. Just don't let anybody stand between you and the people who matter the most in your life.
