Def Leppard and Station fire survivors
Todd King, a Station fire survivor writes:
Def Leppard last evening August 16th at the Providence Dunkin Donuts Center was just awesome. On top of having just a phenomenal show, these guys did something that has to be told to the world about what kind of people they are. We first of all - with help from the Def Leppard and the facility - were able to raise $1500 selling our shirts...every cent we raise goes to people who need it. Last evening 45 survivors of the Station Fire were at the show. Before the show the band took the time to meet some of the survivors and were just so incredible.
One young man in particular who got rushed into the hospital for a surgical procedure on Wednesday unbelievably made it to the show. He was burned over 50% of his body, has been bed ridden for 6 months since the fire, and has barely any vision. He came and is just an amazing human being, a great attitude and a great friend to all of us.
The entire band took the time to make his night and a lot of others who haven't smiled in a long long time since this tragedy occurred. They are just amazing. The conversation between Rick Allen and Donovan Williams was just so emotional. Donovan Williams then shocked all of us. He came in a wheel chair. We all were taking pictures and the band surrounded his wheel chair. As we went to snap a picture he stood up. Just floored everyone, just an awesome moment. The band then sent us some autographed instruments to auction off for the fund.

Malvin Mortimer who is Def Leppard's tour manager is just one of the nicest people we have met and made sure everything went so nicely for everyone's night. A lot of people are just so afraid of the crowds still and you I am sure know why.
Another effect to show how caring this band is. A few weeks ago I received and email from the band asking about the lyrics to Rock of Ages regarding the Pyromania and a reference to burning this place to the ground. We were approached asking if we were going to be offended if they played this part of the song.
We were just floored they even asked, I asked all the survivors who are on a survivor site and unanimously they said nothing changes, but to tell Lep to just play it really loud.

They still changed the lyrics and then during the encore they told the story of how we told them to just play it really loud, the support in the community was just awesome and the crowd went absolutely crazy when they acknowledged the Station Fire and that the survivors were there.
Music over the last few months has gotten a lot of us through this very trying time and this is such a strong and giving community. Just an awesome night and it felt good laugh and have fun with all of the survivors for a change and a step back to normal again.

Here's a pic of Def Leppard with a survivor:

Hysteria tee in Rolling Stone
In the brand new Issue of Rolling Stone, there's a special twenty page style section with the coolest casual clothes, jackets and watches of the season... and most of it came straight out of the '80's. Torn out knees, checkers sneakers and all. LOL! Check out the Tee shirt the guy getting picked up is wearing.

I think it rocks that the younger generations are learning the truth... that Def Leppard never really went out of style, never will, and forever rules!

January will see work start on new album

This comes to us from Melodic rock.com

DEF LEPPARD TO START RECORDING NEW ALBUM IN JANUARY:
BW&BK journo and site regular Mitch Lafon mailed in an update from a weekend Def Leppard show in Canada. Included was some interesting info from the band's bassist Rick Savage.
Mitch reports: "Def Leppard rocked Montreal tonight with a brilliant set. A before the show chat with Rick Savage revealed that the band is currently putting together a live compilation album that will feature tracks from the band's earliest days to the last show of the current tour. No release date is yet planned and Rick wasn't sure if it would be available alone or as part of the planned 25th Anniversary box set. What he is sure about is that the band has no plans on retiring...ever! And will start work on a new studio album in January." Bravo guys!

The official Def Leppard message board is currently offline.
This statement comes from the moderators of the OS forum:
"The official Def Leppard message board is currently offline.

For the past couple of weeks, we had a test-setup running on a temporary server at Senff.com, and all tests have been successful. We are currently making preparations to move both the DefLeppard.com site and the message board to another new server (not owned by the record label), which will be the 'final destination', so to speak.

Our sincere apologies for taking the message board offline so suddenly and without warning. We hope to have everything up and running again in a week or two..... Hopefully!

Thanks for all your patience,

Mark & Mike
Board moderators."

I'm sure the webmaster of the OS will tend to the matter with all the tact, efficiency and professionalism we've come to expect of him over the years, and that it will be taken care of to the very best of his vast abilities.
